Membership

The process for becoming a member of the UMKC Law Review is open to all first and second-year UMKC School of Law students. Members are selected in March through a blind-graded exercise that tests candidates on their bluebook and editing skills and legal writing ability. Grades are also part of the selection process. Each year, roughly forty to forty-five membership offers are extended.

Members are part of editing teams that substantively edit, bluebook, and proofread the content that goes into the Law Review. During their first year on Law Review, members are also responsible for writing a Comment for possible publication in the Law Review. Those in their second year of membership are eligible to serve on the UMKC Law Review’s Managing Board. The UMKC Law Review strongly encourages all current UMKC Law School students to consider becoming a part of Law Review.
